About the Course
In collaboration with the Center for Math, Science, and Computer Ed (CMSCE) of Rutgers University, we will offer a course designed to address the integration of technology in the teaching of process writing. The course will focus on the effective use of two software packages that we currently have, Kidspiration and Inspiration as well as various Internet resources. The course is based on research that supports the integration of technology in the teaching of writing and will provide a hands-on; project based translating to increased use of technology by teachers and students. Teachers will be required to develop lessons based on concepts learned throughout the course, participate in collegial discussions of research and practice, and culminate in the presentation of student writing projects completed as a result of the practices learned throughout the course. Process writing, across the curriculum, will be addressed as well as theNJCCCS specific to writing literacy. Teachers participating in this course will be better prepared to address writing and open-ended responses required on the NJASK. All projects will be a direct connection to current classroom practice and assessment. 3 credits
